Extra number billing
With extra numbers, the same account sends messages from several WhatsApp numbers. They suit companies with several locations, branches or departments, and resale: a partner platform gives one number to each of its end customers (see the resale guide).
Who can use extra numbers
Extra numbers are available on the Business and Custom plans. On the Free and Lone Wolf plans, adding an extra number returns 402 feature_not_available. You need to change plans first.
Each plan has a maximum number of simultaneous extra numbers: 1,000 on the Business and Custom plans. See the full plan table in Quota and usage.
Price
An extra number costs $17.90 per month, on top of the Business plan. On the Custom plan, terms are agreed with our sales team (sales@turbonotify.com). The exact amount for your account appears on the Billing (opens in a new tab) page of the dashboard.
How billing works
- Extra numbers added during the cycle generate an immediate pro-rata charge at activation, covering the days left until the end of the current cycle. The calculation uses the actual days of the cycle (28 to 31, depending on the month), never a fixed 30-day month. This charge happens before the number becomes available: if it fails (card declined, no payment method on file), the number is not created.
- From the next cycle on, if the extra number is still active, it is charged the full price (no pro-rata), on the same invoice as the base plan.
Formula (pro-rata charge at activation):
amount = monthly_price × days_left_in_cycle / days_in_cycleExample: in a 31-day cycle (January, for example), an extra number activated on day 11 has 20 days left until the end of the cycle. The pro-rata charge, made at activation, is $17.90 × 20 / 31 = $11.55.
The pro-rata activation charge is a one-off charge. From the next cycle on, the extra number is part of the regular start-of-cycle invoice, together with the base plan.
Numbers removed right after activation may be refunded
If you remove an extra number right after adding it, before using it, the pro-rata charge made at activation may be refunded automatically. The DELETE response tells you what happened, in refund_eligible, refund_amount_cents and refund_status (see Removing extra numbers).
When the removal is scheduled (for the end of the period already paid), the number stays in the account and keeps working until then, and the charge already made is not refunded. It is not included in the next period’s invoice.

Removing an extra number
You can remove a number at any time, whether it is connected or not. The removal takes one of two paths, chosen automatically:
Immediate removal. A number removed right after it was added, before it was used, may be removed on the spot, with no waiting period, and the activation charge refunded.
Scheduled removal. In every other case, the number is removed at the end of the period already paid. The scheduled_deletion_at field in the response has the exact date. Until then the number keeps working normally: it keeps the status it had, sends and receives messages, and you can connect and disconnect it as usual, without changing the deletion or triggering a charge. To keep the number, use POST /v1/numbers/{ref}/cancel-deletion.
Canceling the scheduled deletion only triggers a charge when the invoice for the next period was already issued without the number. In that case you pay the pro-rated amount for what remains of the period already paid. The charge comes first: if it is declined or the payment processor fails (no_payment_method, payment_declined, payment_requires_authentication or payment_gateway_unavailable), the deletion stays scheduled.
The DELETE response tells you which path was taken, in refund_eligible (true = immediate removal) and scheduled_deletion_at.
The two paths affect the invoice differently:
- Immediate removal: the number is deleted right away and the pro-rata charge made at activation is refunded. See Numbers removed right after activation.
- Scheduled removal: the number stays in the account and keeps working until the end of the period already paid, which was already charged and is not refunded. It is not included in the next period’s invoice: billing stops with the deletion. A number that is only disconnected, by contrast, keeps being charged (see Pause instead of remove below).
Pause instead of remove
To stop using a number temporarily without losing it, disconnect it instead of removing it:
- The number stays in the account with status
disconnectedand keeps being charged at the start of each cycle, for as long as it stays in the account. - It can be reconnected at any time, without adding it again.
- Use this for temporary pauses. Remove the number when you will not use it anymore.
Extra number limit
When you reach your plan’s limit (1,000 active extra numbers), adding a new number returns:
{ "error": "extra_numbers_limit_reached", "details": { "limit": 1000, "current": 1000 }}Remove an existing number to free up room, or talk to the sales team if your Custom plan needs a higher limit.
Frequently asked questions
Am I charged for disconnected numbers?
Yes. Disconnecting pauses the number, but it does not stop billing: the number keeps being charged at the start of each cycle. To stop being charged, you need to remove the number. When the removal is scheduled, the number is no longer charged from the next period on and keeps working until the deletion date.
Can I add and remove numbers freely?
Yes, within your plan’s limit. An extra number activated in the middle of the cycle generates an immediate pro-rata charge; if it is still in the account at the start of the next cycle, it is charged the full price together with the base plan. Only an immediate removal, right after adding the number and before using it, can refund the pro-rata activation charge.
Where can I see the billing details of my extra numbers?
On the Billing (opens in a new tab) page of the dashboard, each invoice lists the extra numbers charged in that period, with the number of active days used in the calculation.
